A Message to our friends in Japan
To the people of Japan – from the Friends of Tangaroa – our hearts and best wishes go out to you in this time of sorrow and great loss.
We are all citizens of the Pacific and we thank you for coming to our assistance in our hour of need.
Nga mate aitua o koutou i tenei parekura nui
(The dead the afflicted in this great disaster)
Ka tangihia e tatou I tenei wa
(We lament for them at this time)
Haere, haere, haere
(Farewell once, twice, thrice)
Ka tuku roimata i te mamae, i te pupūnga ake rānei o tētahi kare ā-roto
(We lend our tears from the pain or that suffering lament that springs from within)
No reira, ka piti hono tatai hono
(Therefore bind us to our geneology)
Te hunga mate ki te hunga mate
(The departed to the departed)
Te hunga ora ki te hunga ora
(The living with the living)
Tena koutou katoa
(Greetings to you all)
